In filmdom, a father rushing to the rescue of his sons is nothing rare. In fact, it is the done thing.

Latest in the list is veteran actor Ravichandran. Sought after hero a few decades ago, Ravichandran tried to launch his son Hamsavardhan as hero a few years ago.

Unfortunately, all movies starring Hamsavardhan bombed at the office.

Now Ravichandran has taken a big gamble. He has decided to produce besides direct a movie starring his son in the lead role in a bid to establish a viable career for him.

The debut directorial venture of Ravichandran has been titled Mandhiran and it stars actress Swathy, Kadhal Sukumar in the lead roles.

The movie will go to floors next week.

Says Ravichandran: "Hamsavardhan has enough talent and it needs to be encouraged well. Hence I have decided to produce and direct a movie to give him the desired break".
