Speaking to a media house, the Suresh Productions supremo said that the call was taken by Kalaippuli S Thanu, the other producer of 'Narappa'. "I am not the sole owner of 'Narappa'. I have the full freedom to take a call on films produced solely by my production house. Thanu has taken the decision based on his past experience. Also, there is the lingering fear of the third wave. We didn't want to reap losses," Suresh Babu said.
He added that it would be hypocritical to ask the audience to watch movies only in theatres when producers themselves don't like their families to watch movies in theatres in the middle of the pandemic. "How right is it to expect the audience to watch our movies only in theatres?" Babu asked.
The producer said that, from the audience's point of view, watching a movie on the OTT is a cheap option as compared to watching it in a theatre.
Starring Venkatesh, Priyamani, Karthik Ratnam, Ammu Abhirami and others, 'Narappa' will release on Amazon Prime on July 20.
