At an international contest in Mumbai, India, Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic won the title of Miss World 2024. A runner-up was found among the 111 participants from all over the world.
On the fast track, the contestants in various categories like fitness, beauty, talent, and public speaking will all have secured a spot in the top 40. The segment further narrows down to the top 12 and then the top eight, whom they address in a Q&A session to throw light on the few perspectives on women's health this time around in relation to menstrual stigma. 23-year-old law student and model Vojtech Hrani Pyszková advocated for breaking the taboo related to menstruation and emphasized the importance of celebrating womanhood.
In the third round, four contestants pitched their charity ideas to the Sharks in "Shark Tank India." Pyszkova won the charity title over Yasmina Zeytoun (Lebanon), Aché Abrahams (Trinidad and Tobago), and Lesego Chombo (Botswana).
Miss World, first staged in 1951 as a "bikini contest," operated under the tagline "beauty with a purpose," has transformed beyond imagination and turned into a platform with a worldwide reach. The likes of Indian film actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 1994 and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in 2000 were stage-buoyed to speak about the pageant and its humanitarian accomplishments.
Pyszková succeeds Karolina Bielawska from Poland, who has held the title since March 2022. Miss World Prague was starting and stopping all over in 2023 for scheduling conflicts before coming to full speed earlier this year. Pyszková's win is another well-deserved high point in the proud history of Prague.
