It was recently reported that the Movie Artiste`s Association (MAA) complained to the police against those who are into maligning the image of its members and spreading wrong information about certain films. As part of their complaint, the MAA also urged the police to take action against those running obscene sites.

Following this, the Cyberated Police Commissionarate has started acting against the admins of about 30 websites. One Pradeep Dasari, who posts morphed images and publishes fictitious gossips about the private lives of actors and actresses, has been arrested from his Bengaluru residence. More than 150 websites are under the radar of the cyber police.

The MAA had also earnestly sought to put an end to the scourge of cyber bullying by vested interests, who resort to abuse and threats on social media, all in the guise of "fanism". The police are expected to target them as well.
