Producer CV Kumar has been known for his interesting production ventures like Pizza, Attakathi, Soodhu Kavvum etc in his Thirukumaran Entertainments, and had turned a director for the first time with the 2017 flick Maayavan starring Sundeep Kishan and Lavanya Tripathi in lead roles.

Two years after its release, CV Kumar is back donning the director's hat with Gangs of Madras, starring Ashok, Sai Priyanka Ruth, Daniel Balaji, Velu Prabhakaran and Aadukalam Naren, and the movie's first look posters and teaser have gained good response.

Now it has been speculated that the movie is targeting an April 12 release. With post production works in full swing, the announcement on the same is expected soon. Meanwhile, two movies directed by AL Vijay - Devi 2 with Prabhu deva and Tamannaha and GV Prakash starrer Watchman are announced to release on the same day.
