Cut, and start, action

It was a tough decision for actors to make. Yet, they have finally agreed for it.

It's been a long time that producers and directors have been making a plea to actors and actresses to have their salary reduced.

In case of a few prominent stars, the salary was almost half the total expenditure of the film. A stern call was made to streamline their remuneration quite like in neighboring Tollywood.

Last week, at the committee meeting of South India Film Artistes Association aka Nadigar Sangam, presided over by 'Captain' Vijayakanth, it was unanimously decided to reduce the salaries of the actors after much deliberations and discussions.

Besides the committee members, actors including Madhavan and Prashanth also took part in the meeting.

The decision of the artistes to take a cut in their salaries must be indeed good news for producers and directors.

Producers, in fact hamstrung by poor returns from the box office, have been looking for ways to offset their losses.

But with the artistes providing the way, more austerity measures will soon be in place.

So after the cut, the directors more forcefully say start, action
