The management of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team in the on-going 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) did the unthinkable when it arranged a special ‘CSK train’ to Pune for the benefit of die-hard fans of the team who have been robbed of the possibility of watching CSK’s home-matches in Chennai.
Two weeks back, CSK played its first home-match in Chennai in three years (it wasn’t among the franchises in 2016 and 2017) and ironically enough, it turned out to be the last match of the team in this edition of IPL as protesters managed to get the attention of IPL organizers as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) who held discussions and decided to shift CSK’s remaining ‘home’ matches to Pune.
1,000-odd cricket-crazy fans of CSK, all clad in CSK jerseys, left for Pune by a special ‘CSK Train’ which left Chennai Central on Thursday to watch yesterday’s CSK Vs Rajasthan Royals match. As per fans’ expectations, the CSK put up a grand show by beating the Royals with ease by a victory margin of 64 runs.
The train was named, albeit temporarily, as the ‘Visil Podu Express’ which is reminiscent of the CSK’s oft-repeated slogan. CSK management is said to be taking care of the accommodation, food and other expenses of the ‘CSK army’.
