Even as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struggle to make a mark in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League, New Zealand fast-bowler Adam Milne has been ruled out of the tournament owing to an injury.
Adam Milne suffered a hamstring injury in CSK’s first match of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26 and has since not played for the team. “Milne, who was picked up by the Super Kings in the player auction for IPL 2022, played the first game of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders,” CSK’s official statement read.
19-year old medium pacer, Matheesha Pathirana, who was a part of Sri Lanka’s U-19 World Cup squads in 2020 and 2022, has been announced as Milne’s replacement for the remainder of the tournament. “He will join CSK at the price of INR 20 lakh,” the IPL mentioned in a statement.
“A right-arm pacer with a slinging action, Pathirana picked up 7 wickets from 4 matches in the tournament. He also played the Under-19 World Cup in 2020,” CSK further added. Having won only 1 of its 6 matches in the season so far, CSK are currently placed at the 9th position in the points table.
