The renowned IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings released their star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo in their retentions ahead of the 2023 edition. Now, Bravo has announced his retirement from the cash-rich league as a player and also added that he will take up a new role in Yellow as the bowling coach.

The veteran West Indies-based cricketer is the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, with 183 wickets from 161 matches. He has also scored 1560 runs at a strike rate of around 130, playing key parts in many victories for his side. The team's former bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji will be taking a break for one year due to personal commitments.

Sharing a video on his Instagram page, DJ Bravo wrote, "After 15 years of playing in the most toughest T20 league, I announce today that I will be no longer be taking part in IPL. It’s been a great journey, with a lot of ups and downs. At the same time I am grateful to be a part of the IPL for the last 15 years. I know it’s a sad day for myself, my family and most importantly my fans. But at the same time, I want us all to celebrate my career over the last 15 years. As I get ready to move on and hang up my bowling boots, I would like to let my fans know that I am looking forward to putting on my coaching cap. I look forward to working with the young bowlers in CSK. I am really excited about this new opportunity; that my calling is now to help and develop the next generation of champions. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. Forever Yellove."

Bravo in a statement said, "I am looking forward to this new journey because it’s something I see myself doing after my playing days is fully over. I enjoy working with bowlers and it’s a role I’m excited about. From player to coach, I don’t think I have to adjust much because while I’m playing, I always work with bowlers and try to come up with plans and ideas on how to have that one step ahead of the batsmen. The only difference is I will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off. I never thought I would be the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL. But I’m just happy to be a part of IPL history."
