In 2017, there was a major fire accident in the popular Chennai Silks showroom located in Usman Road, T Nagar, and now yet again another showroom of the popular textile chain has got damaged in a fire accident, leading to huge losses estimated in crores.

The Chennai Silks showroom located in Kovilpatti Main road, had been operating as a five floor building including the basement, and on Tuesday, the employees had closed the showroom after work and left the place. By Wednesday morning 4 AM, there was a fire in the ground floor, which started spreading, following which police and fire service were informed.

As there was a difficulty in entering, the main shutter was broken and water was poured all over, and more than 100 firefighters struggled for around 8 hours and controlled fire by 12 PM. While none of the employees were injured, it has been estimated that 3 crores worth textile goods have got damaged, and minister Kadambur Raju visited the location to assess the damage.
