'Kabir Singh', starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, hit the screens on Friday. This Hindi remake of Vijay Deverakonda-Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Arjun Reddy has been panned by film critics.
Bollywood movie reviewers have thoroughly disliked the "toxic masculinity" of Shahid's character. "The heroine opens her mouth 50 minutes into the flick. She begs Kabir Singh not to leave her. It is as if she suffers from Stockholm Syndrome," a critic wrote.
The scene where the male lead holds a knife to a woman, demanding her to undress, has been expected panned by critics.
However, the box-office is on the verge of giving the film a thumbs-up. Says film critic KRK, "The film has taken a historical opening of ₹20Cr+ and it is proof that today nobody is a big or small star. Any star can get ₹20Cr+ opening with a good film. No Shahid Kapoor’s solo film has done 50Cr lifetime business till date, while #Kabirsingh will do 100Cr+ lifetime business for sure."
