Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for COVID-19

World-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is the latest high public figure to have tested positive for COVID-19. The news was announced by Portugal's Football Federation on its website on Tuesday. The federation said Ronaldo is in isolation and has no symptoms. How the footballer contracted the virus is yet to be traced.

Ronaldo's result prompted another round of tests for the rest of the Portugal squad and everyone else in the team was found to be tested negative. While Ronaldo has been dropped from the country's Nations League match against Sweden, the rest of the team would be available for the much-awaited game.

Ronaldo, the 35-year-old Juventus forward who has been voted the world's top player five times, is the highest-profile footballer to test positive for Covid-19, which has killed over a million people since the start of the pandemic earlier this year.
