Portuguese football great Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly concerned about the lack of activity in the transfer market, is likely to leave Manchester United this summer in order to continue playing Champions League football next season, as per reports.
The Five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who only returned to Manchester United a year ago after leaving Italian club Juventus, did well for himself on an individual level after scoring 18 goals in 30 league appearances, but the team suffered despite that after finishing sixth in the Premier League. As a result, the Red Devils did not qualify for the UEFA Champion’s League. Ronaldo has a contract with Man United until June 2023. According to reports, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Napoli are some of the clubs interested in signing the player.
Ronaldo had shared a heartfelt statement last year to announce the news of his formal transfer from Juventus to Man United. “Everyone who knows me, knows about my never ending love for Manchester United. The years I spent in this club were absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution. I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide!” An official statement regarding the player’s departure is expected.
