Cricketer Zaheer Khan, who was India’s pace spearhead for more than a decade till a few years back, married longtime girlfriend and popular model-turned-actress Sagarkia Ghatge. The couple hosted a lavish marriage reception yesterday which was attended by ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar and a few of Zaheer Khan’s former India team-mates including ‘Turbanator’ Harbhajan Singh.
Bollywood and cricket have been closely associated with many actresses getting married to crickets. It started with Nawab Ali Khan Pataudi marrying actress Sharmila Tagore. The tradition has continued ever since with Harbhajan marrying Geeta Basra; even India’s current cricket captain Virat Kohli said to be madly in love with Bollywood’s frontline actress Anushka Sharma.
The marriage was a simple affair held at Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai to which only close relatives and family friends were invited. Zaheer has been congratulated by his fellow cricketers. Vidya Malavade, Sagarika’s co-star in the hit film Chak De India, wished the couple well.
