Cricketer Shahid Afridi tests positive for COVID-19

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Saturday took to his Twitter handle to announce that he had tested positive for COVID-19. "I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah #COVID19 #pandemic #hopenotout #staysafe #stayhome ", wrote the 40-year-old shared the news on Twitter.

Wishes of a speedy recovery started pouring on social media soon after Afridi made the announcement. Afridi who has played for Pakistan between 1996 and 2018, is the second international cricketer from Pakistan to test positive for COVID-19 after the former Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar. He had recently recovered from the disease.

Since the Coronavirus outbreak began, Afridi has been doing a lot of charity work through his foundation, Hope Not Out. Helping thousands of poor families with ration and other essential supplies, Afridi has been very active.
