Cricket unites BO fighters 'Majili', 'Jersey'

If Mahesh Babu's 'Maharshi' is postponed to the last week of April, there are high chances that 'Majili' and 'Jersey' will clash at the BO on April 5. There is an interesting commonality between these two medium-range movies.
Naga Chaitanya plays a cricketer in Shiva Nirvana's 'Majili', which is a period drama. In 'Jersey', Natural Star Nani is much the same. However, the similarity is superficial. It's because the former is a romantic drama and 'Jersey' is an emotional sports drama. In the Chaitanya-Samantha movie, love (between two pairs?) is the crux. In Nani's film, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the journey of a middle-class man is the mainstay.
It seems 'Majili' is set in two different time periods. If that is so, it's in the same league as 'Jersey' to this extent. Nani plays a 36-year-old man who takes to cricket, his passion, when he reaches retirement age. As such his past too has to be narrated in fair detail in the movie.
