The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has on Tuesday announced that the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi will be renamed as Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 12. The name of the ground, however, will remain the same.
As per the Association, it was because of the former Finance Minister's encouragement and support that iconic cricketers such as Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir could rise.
The proposal first came from Gambhir, who is now a BJP MP.
Jaitley died last week at 66. The senior BJP leader was the President of DDCA many years ago. He was a cricket buff.
