On Thursday, former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer stirred a controversy when he said that the Indian cricket team's selectors would serve tea to Anushka Sharma (Virat Kohli's wife and Bollywood actress) during the recent World Cup. The comments shocked many, especially because they seemed sensational than substantial.
Anushka didn't lose any time and put out a strong rebuttal on Twitter. In her long statement, she expressed disgust over her name being dragged into cricketing controversies time and again. She also showed hurt in the way she has often been blamed whenever her husband performs poorly on the field.
After Anushka hit back, Farokh made it a point to tender an apology. He said that his comments were directed not at her but against the selection committee. Former cricketer MSK Prasad described Farokh's comments as "demeaning".
