Cricket-based movie '83' chooses theatrical release first

There have been baseless rumours that '83', the Hindi-Telugu-Tamil film, will not have a theatrical release. The makers of the Ranveer Singh-starrer have said that there is no truth in the reports.

The cricket-based movie will release in theatres first as and when the time is appropriate. It will not release on an over-the-top platform first, the makers of the Kabir Khan directorial revealed in a statement.

Based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, the expensive movie's release was indefinitely postponed from April last month.

The Telugu version is produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna on Annapurna Studios in this film that has Ranveer playing Kapil Dev.
