Credibility of Panaroma selectors questioned

Kollywood has come out with mixed reactions on the selection of four Tamil films for screening at the Indian Panorama of the 39th International Film Festival of India 2008.
While 'Billa', 'M3V', 'Kalloori' have been selected for screening, Priyadarshan's 'Kanchivaram' has been selected for the prestigious competition section of the festival. This is the very first time that a Tamil film has been selected in the competition section.
Voices of opposition are heard as movies like 'Anjathey' and 'Subramaniapuram' have been omitted by the selection committee. 'These films should be taken to the international audiences', they opine.
Actor Narain, who played the lead role in 'Anjathey' said, 'I am shocked 'Anjathey' has not been selected. Mysskin should be encouraged to make more such meaningful and realistic films.
Director Sasikumar (debutant director of 'Subramaniapuram') reportedly said, 'I am not really bothered. My film has been well received by the people and the media. This is more important than being selected for the Indian Panorama'.
