At a time when 'Sarkar-3' has been panned by critics, an English-language national daily has it that Ram Gopal Varma is going to make a biopic of Nathuram Godse, the Mahatma Gandhi assassin.

Although RGV has dealt with grey characters and downright negative personalities in different films in the past, a biopic of Godse is going to have a polarized following of its own. Godse, who is largely identified as a Far Right nationalist, is either demonized or deified in our collective public imagination. While he is seen as a blot on our society by some, there are others who see him as a hero! He is a bigot for some, while for others, he is a patriot.

It will be interesting to see how RGV will portray such a complex personality. Godse the youngster, Godse the family man, Godse the Gandhi admirer-turned-hater, Godse the proud killer of the Mahatma, Godse the hanged assassin, and more.

Whatever may be the tone of the film, you can be rest assured that Ramu will find the right actor to play Godse. Watch this space...
