Craze for overseas shooting rises

Taking a cue from Bollywood, the producers and directors in Tamil cinema have begun shooting abroad.
Nenjil featuring Navdeep and Aparna was shot entirely abroad (London). Major portions of director Jeeva's Unnale Unnale were shot in Melbourne and London.
After Priyasakhi, director K S Adhiyaman is busy shooting his next Thoondil featuring Shaam and Kuthu Ramya in London and the crew would be moving to Malaysia shortly.
A major portion of Kamal Haasan's forthcoming Dasavatharam would be shot in USA.
The likes of Karan Johar and Yash Chopra in Bollywood have shot entire films in foreign locations.
Says director Vikraman, ÂI felt comfortable shooting abroad for Chennai Kadhal. The cumbersome procedures involved in obtaining permission from the authorities in Tamil Nadu to shoot films disappoint us. It is more comfortable to shoot abroad.Â
Further, the NRI market is also proving to be very lucrative for Indian films and the producers want to cash in on that too.
