Uttarakhand's BJP chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has discovered that massaging the cow can cure you of respiratory problems. He said that the cow's urine and dung can cure kidney-related and heart-related ailments.

He also said in a public speech that cow is the only animal that inhales and exhales oxygen. Because of this unique feature, he suggested, massaging a cow can help cure asthma and other breathing problems.

Peddling of such unproven and unscientific theories, that too by a Chief Minister, can be potentially harmful. The general population, especially the uneducated, can blindly go by such statements. Several politicians have made such laughable statements in the past. Sadhvi Pragya Singh, the controversial Bhopal BJP parliamentarian, went to the extent of saying that hear breast cancer was taken care of by cow urine!
