The deadly coronavirus has now become a global concern, with rising deaths and infections across the world. However, a BJP MLA from Assam claims that cow dung and cow urine can be used to treat the virus. She even added that they can be used to cure cancer too.

During a discussion on smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh, BJP MLA Suman Haripriya, reportedly said, "Coronavirus is an airborne disease and it can be cured by using 'gaumutra'(cow urine) and cow dung. The rishi munis (saints) had performed hawan by using cow dung and the air of about five-kilometer radius area was purified... Our government can also try to do this. We can use alternative medicine to cure cancer. In an Ayurvedic hospital in Gujarat, the cow dung is applied to the cancer patients. They are given panchamrit prepared from cow urine and got a lot of success. Many Ayurvedic institutes and Gosala (cow shelter) have used it."

The novel coronavirus, now officially called Covid-19, has claimed the lives of more than 3000 people and infected over 80000 people across the world. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency.
