Why is Telangana lagging behind in terms of testing compared to Andhra Pradesh, the other Telugu State? It has got to do with the difference in the numbers of TrueNAT machines in the two States.

A New Indian Express report finds out that Telangana has got only 21 TrueNAT machines. In contrast, AP has got 340. "Each machine can test around 120 samples in a day," the report adds.

"TrueNat costs Rs 13 lakh each. AP had 225 machines and placed an order for 215 more since Covid-19 broke out," tweets out journalist V Nilesh.

The TNIE report adds that AP has got 42 TrueNAT labs as per the Indian Council of Medical Research. On the other hand, Telangana has got just one private lab.
