Telangana continues to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. On Friday, we saw how the State logged 1892 cases. This was the highest in the country, followed by Karnataka's 1694 cases. West Bengal, the third-highest, had 669 cases.
Prof. Shamika Ravi says that Telangana has a bad combination of exponentially rising daily new cases, and very poor testing. She adds, "Confirmed cases per 100 tests is 19%. This is the highest in the country. The situation is worse than what is prevailing in Maharashtra and Delhi as far as positivity rate is concerned."
Reporting for The Print, journalist Aneesha Bedi said that the Covid numbers coming out of Telangana on the health bulletin every night aren’t the real numbers. "The Covid-19 cases are at least 3,000 more than the figures being released," she added. "Health bulletin by the government Thursday night says Telangana has 18,570 Covid cases, but live dashboard on health and government website shows 21,393 cases," the report adds.
