Reliance Industries has taken a decision to increase the supply of oxygen as part of its outreach to help hospitals in at least three states which are severely affected by the second wave of coronavirus. The corporate entity will supply an additional dose of over 700 tonnes a day to Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, among others. All this is being done for free of cost.
Reportedly, the company will be providing relief to over 70,000 patients whose condition is critical. At Reliance, plans are also afoot to upgrade medical oxygen production capacity to 1,000 tonnes
In another news, the Tata Group said that it is going to import 24 cryogenic containers to transport liquid oxygen to hospitals.
It may be noted that JSW, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, SAIL, and Jindal Steel and Power too have committed to diverting their industrial oxygen supply to government hospitals.
