There was a time when the propaganda machinery was at its best during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, constantly showing up Kerala as the best coronavirus-slaying 'model'. The alleged model fell apart in no time. Today, the Left Front government, with Shailaja Teacher as its face of ineptitude, is busy requesting the Centre to give it vaccines on a priority basis.
In a statement, the Union Ministry of Health has said that Kerala is a cause of concern now that it reports more than 5,000 cases a day on an average. Data shows that it also reports more than 20 deaths per day on an average. What is more shocking is that the active cases of Kerala are more than 28% of the total national active cases.
"The Doubling Rate of Kerala is 106 days as compared to national Doubling Rate of 385 days (all-India)," the Ministry added. A total of 35,038 new cases have been reported during the last seven days, the Centre said on Wednesday.
The Centre has decided to send a High-Level team to Kerala to monitor the situation and help bring it under control. This is reminiscent of the Centre's intervention to rectify things in Delhi.
