March 28 offers a ray of hope with the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kerala falling from double digital numbers to 6. The numbers were officially revealed by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a press meet held in Trivandrum.

Of the 6 new confirmed cases, 2 people are from Trivandrum, and one each from Kollam Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kasargod. "A total of 165 people are getting treated in the state across various hospitals while 134370 are under observation," said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He also announced that rapid tests will be conducted to see if there is community outreach.

On Saturday, Kerala has registered its first coronavirus death as a 69-year-old man died in Kochi. He is a resident of Chullikal in Kochi, who was admitted to the Kalamassery Medical College. Reportedly, he had returned from Dubai on March 16 and was on home-quarantine for several days. He was admitted to the hospital on March 22, after he showed symptoms of pneumonia. Reportedly, he was a high-risk patient as he had a serious heart condition and was on ventilator support.

His wife and the driver who had picked up the Mattanchery native from Nedumbassery airport the other day was also diagnosed with coronavirus. 40 people who interacted with this driver are placed under observation.
