Covid-19: India almost logs 50,000 cases in 24 hours

India has logged about 50,000 cases (49,931 to be precise) in the past 24 hours (as of Monday morning). This is the single-biggest one-day spike ever.

The total tally of Covid-19 now stands at 14,35,453. India is likely to cross the 1.5 million mark in less than 36 hours.

Active cases are 4,85,114 in number. So far, 9,17,567 patients have either been cured or discharged.

Coronavirus has taken a toll of 32,771, with 708 patients losing their lives in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the launch of high-throughput COVID-19 testing facilities. They will be set up in Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata with the aim of ramping up our testing capacity.
