COVID-19: Former Football player dies in Kerala

On Saturday, Kerala reported one more COVID-19 death, rising the death toll to 15 in the state. The deceased is a former footballer and Santhosh Trophy player named Ilayidath Hamsakkoya (63).

Hamsakoya, who was settled in Mumbai, had returned to Kerala 10 days back with family. Hamsakkoya was diagnosed with pneumonia and his condition worsened by Friday afternoon. Following this, he had undergone plasma therapy. However, he succumbed to the deadly virus on Saturday.

The 63-year-old played for Maharashtra for five years in the Santosh Trophy from 1981 to 1986. His family members including wife, son, daughter in law, and granddaughter had also tested positive for coronavirus. The family is getting treated at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
