Has the easing of lockdown-related restrictions exacerbated the fatality rate from Covid-19 in Telangana? The answer is a big yes.
The New Indian Express, in its latest report, has said that deaths of Covid-19 patients have increased by a whopping 197 per cent since May 18. "Number of deaths of Covid-19 patients increased from 38 on May 18, before relaxations came into force, to 113 deaths on June 4 - a rise of 197 per cent," the data-based report says.
With 8 deaths on Friday, "the total toll in Telangana stands at 113 and makes the month of June one of the deadliest so far, with 31 deaths in just 5 days," the report adds.
Worryingly, many deaths have happened despite no co-morbidity like hypertension or cancer.
