Owing to the alarming spike in the number of COVID-19, restrictions are being tightened in Kerala. In view of the second wave of the pandemic, directions have been given to Police officials to ensure that the public wears masks and follows social distancing in public places from Thursday. The decision was made n the core committee meeting convened by the chief secretary.
Reportedly, the test positivity rate and daily Covid cases increased in the state as the people failed to follow the Covid preventive measures during the election campaign. Considering the situation, more positive cases are expected in the coming days.
District Collector Dr Navjot Khosa has directed the Thiruvananthapuram district to be on high alert for the next one week in the wake of the increase in Covid transmission in the district. Apart from the Police officials, sectoral magistrates will also be appointed to take action against those who fail to follow the protocol. The one-week quarantine for the people who arrived from other states and foreign countries will continue.
