COVID crisis: Shakeela movie producer turns biriyani seller

Jafar Kanjirappally who is popular as a film producer, film operator and distributor, known for his Shakeela starrer movie Neelakurinju Poothu has turned a biryani seller amid COVID crisis. Like every other field, the film industry also faced major setbacks due to the pandemic. Jaffer was also left jobless and so he decided to put up a Biryani shop.
Talking in an interview with Mathrubhumi, Jaffer revealed that it was FEFKA that requested him to start a food supply programme amid COVID. He also revealed that he supplies meals at a cost below rupees 20.
“Once I get good sales, I will be able to survive from this crisis. Earlier, I had sold biryani at Rs 29. On the first day, 3000 biriyani packets were sold out. Now, I’m selling a biryani packet at Rs 49. If people get delicious biryani at an affordable rate, they will purchase it. Over 20 people are purchasing biriyani from me for sale,” said Jaffer to Mathrubhumi.
Jaffer has produced 9 films till date. Jaffer's Neelakurinju Poothu was directed and acted by Shakeela herself.
