Chennai has reported the highest single-day spike of COVID 19 cases crossing the 1000 mark today with 1012 new patients testing positive. The rest of Tamil Nadu has comparatively only 276 cases in the past twenty-four hours. The state now has 25,872 cases out of which 17,598 are in the capital city alone. The death toll has risen to 208 after 11 persons lost their lives today.

On the positive side 610 patients have been discharged.today taking up the total number of recoveries to 14,316. In the last twenty-four hours, 14,101 samples have been tested out of 5,28,534 samples tested so far in TN and the high number of positives is attributed to it.

The Nilgiris and Tirupur are among the few districts that have maintained zero cases for the past couple of weeks or so. 1437 children under the age of 12 affected so far. which is a worrying factor as there is a steady increase day by day.
