It is the same old story when it comes to the official updates on COVID 19 situation in Tamil Nadu as today once again marked the highest single day spike of 827 new patients with Chennai accounting for 559 of them. There are now 19,372 cases in the state with Chennai holding 12,762. The death toll has risen to 145 after 12 persons losing their lives to the virus in the last twenty four hours.

On the positive side 639 have been discharged today raising the total number of recoveries to 10,548. 117 persons who have returned from other states and countries have tested positive and it is said that almost all those coming from Maharashtra are positive cases numbering near to 1000.

12246 tests were conducted today taking the total number to 455216 in the state. Health minister Vijayabaskar has told media that the mortality rate of 0.7 percent is one of the lowest in the world for coronavirus deaths.
