For the second consecutive day Tamil Nadu has reported new COVID 19 cases in excess of 1500 with today's numbers being 1562 out of which 1149 are from Chennai. There are now 33,229 cases in the state with capital city accounting for 23,298 of them. The death toll has now reached 286 after 17 people lost their lives to the deadly virus in the past twenty four hours.

On the positive side 528 patients have been discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 17,527. Tiruppur and The Nilgiris are maintaining their records of zero new cases for the past month or so.

14,454 individuals were tested today and 5,80,768 persons have been tested till date. 14,982 samples tested today out of which 514 samples under process. 1765 children under the age of 12 are affected so fa in Tamil Nadu.
