COVID 19 - Highest single day increase in Tamil Nadu reported today

The official updates on the COVD 19 situation in Tamil Nadu have painted yet another grim picture as the highest single-day spike today with 853 new cases reported in the state. Needless to now add that Chennai is the highest contributor with 558 cases. There are now 12,203 patients in the capital city out of the 18,545 total in the state. The death toll has risen to 133 after six persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

On the positive side 567 persons have been discharged today raising the total number of recoveries to 9909. Coimbatore, Namakkal, Erode, Salem, The Nilgiris and Tiruppur are among the districts that have maintained zero infections for the past week or so.

Out of today's total,138 people came from Maharashtra and 1 from Kerala. 10,661 individuals were tested today out of 4,23,018 persons tested so far. Of the 18,545 cases, 11,725 are male, 6815 female, 5 transgenders and 1122 children under the age of 12.
