The Sunday evening has come bringing a jolt as the official COVID 19 updates have shown Tamil Nadu having 1515 new cases in yet another highest spike in a single day and also crossing the 1500 mark for the first time. Needless to add that Chennai is the chief contributor with a staggering 1156 new patients testing positive. The state's total so far is now 31,667 with the capital accounting for 22,149. The death toll has risen to 269 after 18 persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

On the positive side 604 patients were discharged today.raising the number of recoveries to 16,999 which is almost half the total number of cases. The Nilgiris and Tiruppur are among the few districts maintaining the zero patient record for the past four weeks.

It has been revealed that in Tamil Nadu the maximum number of 1,21,950 tests have been done in Chennai- Ariyalur has done the least number of tests- 3950. Tamil Nadu's test per million average is 6420, whereas the average in the whole of India is 3278.
