The official COVID 19 updates today show a downward trend in new cases in Chennai that has 1261 today while the number in the whole of Tamil Nadu is 3756. There are now 1,22,350 totally affected in the state. The death toll has now risen to 1700 after 64 lost their lives in the past twenty four hours.

After Chennai the worst affected districts in TN are Madurai - 379 Tiruvallur- 300 Chengalpet-273 Vellore-160 Thoothukudi-141 Kancheepuram-133 Kanyakumari- 115 and Villupuram- 106.

On a positive note 3051 patients have been discharged today rising the tally of recoveries to 74,167. This is the third day since the intensive lockdown has been relaxed and normal life has resumed with some restrictions and it remains to be seen if the numbers stay within manageable range or shoots up.
