The official coronavirus updates show Tamil Nadu once again reported the high number of 4965 new cases raising the number of total cases to 1,80,643. The death toll in the state now stands at 2626 after 75 persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

Chennai with a hundred cases less than yesterday at 1130 is maintaining the average of the past ten days which is a fairly positive sign. The other districts' data of new cases are Thiruvallur- 366, Virudhunagar- 360, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tuticorin- 200+ cases and Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Ranipet, Theni, Thiruvannamalai, Trichy & Vellore recording 100+ cases.

On the positive side the highest number of 50,055 persons were tested today and the total of 20,35,645 tests is the highest in the country as well. 4894 patients were discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 1,26,670.
