COVID 19 - TN and Chennai continue in danger zone with highest record new cases today

It is yet another scary Sunday as the official coronavirus updates have come with a shocking 1974 new cases out of whom 1415 are from Chennai. The state now has 44,661 COVID 19 patients with the state capital accounting for 31,896. The death toll now stands at 435 after 38 people lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours which again is the largest spike to date. The total number of active cases now is 19,676.
On the encouraging side, 1138 patients have been discharged today rising the tallyof recoveries to 24,547. The Nilgiris is the only district maintaining the zero patient count for the past one month or so.
18,782 Covid19 samples were tested today in Tamil Nadu out of 7,10,599 samples tested so far. There is no mention in the official data on how many persons were tested today. 2270 children under the age of 12 have been affected so far.
