The official updates on the COVID 19 pandemic in Tamil Nadu has recorded yet another single-day high spikes with 1438 cases out of which 1116 are in Chennai alone. The total number of patients so far in the state is now 28,694 with Chennai housing two-thirds of the cases numbering 19,826. This is the sixth consecutive day that new cases have been reported in excess of 1000. The death toll now stands at 232 after twelve people lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

On the positive side 861 persons were discharged today rising the recoveries count to 15,762 Tirupur and The Nilgiris are among the few districts that are maintaining the zero patients record for consecutive weeks.

14,968 persons have been tested today out of 5,35,254 individuals tested so far. 15,692 samples were tested today out of which 684 are under process. 1571 children under the age of 12 have been affected so far.
