Tamil Nadu has increased its COVID 19 testing to a great extent and 25,719 persons were tested today out of whom 2141 new positive cases have emerged taking up the total to a massive 52,334. Yet another high number of 1373 of the new cases are from Chennai with the city now housing 37,070 patients overall. The death toll has risen to 625 after 49 persons lost their lives in the past twenty-four hours.

On the positive side 1017 patients have been discharged.todayy taking up the total number of recoveries to 28,641. The government has announced total lockdown from tomorrow June 19th till the 30th when most shops barring essentials and medicals will be closed. It remains to be seen whether there will be a decrease in new cases even after high testing continues in the coming days.
