The official updates on COVID 19 in Tamil Nadu have shown the alarming highest spike in deaths today as 49 people lost their lives taking the overall death toll of the state to 528. In the past twenty four hours, 1515 new cases have been reported in the state with Chennai recording 919 which is the lowest in ten days and first time below the thousand mark in this period. Currently, there are 48,019 cases in TN out of whom 34,245 are in Chennai alone.

On the positive side 1438 patients have been discharged today taking the tally of recoveries so far to 26,782 leaving the number of active cases at 20,706 which is an encouraging sign. Similarly the number of 1515 cases has been arrived at after the highest number of tests conducted today which was 19,242 samples, another good sign. However currently there are no districts in TN that have zero cases.
