The coronavirus update in Tamil Nadu today is nothing short of shocking as 3509 new cases have been reported shooting up the total number to 70,977. Chennai remains the hotspot with yet another highest single day spike of 1834 cases and the total has risen to 47,650. The death toll is now at 911 after 45 persons lost their lives to the deadly virus in the past twenty four hours.

2236 patients have been discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 39,999. The testing has increased to a great level as 30,307 persons were tested today. Districts like Chengalpet, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Tiruvallur & Vellore are seeing a big surge in Covid19 cases. 3481 children under the age of twelve have been affected so far which is another worrying factor.
