COVID-19: Trump threatens WHO that US will stop funding

"The World Health Organization really blew it. For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China-centric. We will be giving that a good look. Fortunately, I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?" Donald Trump has tweeted out.
This comes months after the WHO did nothing to alert the world about the gravity of COVID-19 in December and January. Whatever China said, WHO repeated it, fooling itself and the world.
In 2018-19, the US provided 14.67% of WHO's total funding. Is Trump going to stop much of the financial outlay for the Organization? It doesn't seem so. His critics say that the US President is putting the blame on China, WHO and Barack Obama to cover up his failure to efficiently handle the novel coronavirus pandemic in the US. He will face elections later this year.
Writes Ed Markey, "WHO offered test kits, Trump didn’t take them up on it. The WHO declared a global pandemic, but Trump waited to declare a national emergency. Now Trump wants to scapegoat the WHO for his own failings as President by slashing U.S. resources for it."
