As reported on Monday, 'Bheeshma' actor Nithiin has given Rs 10 lakh each to the CM Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The young actor's Rs 20 lakh contribution follows 'PSV Garuda Vega' and 'Kalki' actor Rajasekhar's promise to reach out to poor artists of MAA.
Kollywood's beloved brothers, Suriya and Karthi, too, have done their bit already. Together with their dad Sivakumar, the actors have donated Rs 10 lakh to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) to aid the thousands of employees who have lost work due to the coronavirus lockdown.
More and more actors are expected to make monetary contributions. "Film celebs have carried out fund-raising events in the past during natural calamities. What is happening now is also a calamity," a commentator says.
On the work front, Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' ('Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa' in Telugu) release is affected, while the shoot of his 'Aruvaa' and a couple of production ventures have been stalled due to the coronavirus. As for the 'Khaidi' actor, Karthi's 'Sultan' and 'Ponniyin Selvan' are also in stop mode.
