Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy has been heavily trolled for saying that all Indians must take a pledge to work for 10 hours a day for six days a week so that growth can be fast-tracked in the next 2-3 years.
Murthy has been trolled heavily on social media, especially by those who are strong advocates of work-life balance. "Pay us for the 60 hours that we have been putting in already. The economy will revive," tweeted out Harini Calamur.
Megha Kaveri, a journalist, wrote, "How to say 'we will extract more work from you in the next 2-3 years for the same (or less) pay' without actually saying it 101?"
Natasha, a social media influencer, lamented, "Narayana Murthy wants people to work 60 hours a week. He also says that Indians are not disciplined and productivity standards need to be defined. What he is essentially saying is that COVID or not, we need to ensure that his net worth is not eroded."
From anger to cynicism to concern over the mental and physical health of workers, a range of reactions has been heard against Murthy's allegedly dangerous suggestion.
