There have been too many fake WhatsApp forwards in recent past.  With the COVID-19 outbreak taking a toll on the economy, millions of poor people have already been found panicking.  To add to the barrage of misinformation and fake news around, a WhatsApp 'news' claims that the Modi government is planning to impose Emergency in the second week of April.

The Indian Army has on Monday busted the fake news.  "Fake and malicious messages are circulating on social media about a likely declaration of emergency in mid-April and the employment of Indian Army, veterans, National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme to assist the civil administration. It's clarified that this is absolutely fake," it said.

Earlier today, the Cabinet Secretary was quoted as saying that there are no plans to extend the 21-day lockdown period in the country.  As things stand, the unprecedented national lockdown will come to an end on April 14.
